Atlanta, Ga. (Aug. 23, 2016). Aegex Technologies LLC will be exhibiting the world’s first Windows 10 intrinsically safe tablet during the ONS 2016 conference in Stavanger, Norway, Aug. 29 – Sept. 1.

Aegex, along with one of its Norwegian resellers, Exnor AS, will exhibit in booth #6980 at the biannual trade show and conference that draws more than 90,000 oil & gas professionals from around the world to view new products and discuss trends and opportunities in the energy market.

Aegex Tech at ONS 2016 During the conference, Aegex Strategic Development Director Kevin Smith will discuss the ways the Aegex10 Intrinsically Safe Tablet is transforming oil & gas operations by bringing real-time connectivity to Zone 1 hazardous areas where only specially certified devices are permitted. The Aegex10 IS Tablet not only allows personnel in these areas to communicate in a cloud-connected Windows environment, but with Microsoft Azure and Power BI, it also enables Big Data collection and analysis in the most restricted areas, helping to improve safety and productivity.

Kevin and Exnor Owner/Managing Director Jan Atle Oyen will give presentations about the Aegex10 IS Tablet solution at booth #6980 at the following times:

  • Monday, August 29, 14:20-14:40
  • Tuesday, August 30, 16:20-16:40
  • Wednesday, August 31, 11:50-12:10

While most mobile devices are not permitted in highly volatile zones of hazardous locations because they could cause a spark, Aegex’s 10.1-inch tablets are certified intrinsically safe, or incapable of igniting an explosion. The Aegex10 IS Tablet’s Microsoft operating system and Intel architecture give it unsurpassed cloud, software and hardware support worldwide.

The Aegex tablet was the first Windows 10 tablet to gain global certifications for ATEX and IECEx Zone 1, UL 913 Class I, II, III Division 1 and CSA 22.2 areas of hazardous locations. These approvals made the Aegex10 the world’s first Windows 10 tablet certified for HazLoc operations where high concentrations of flammable gases, vapors or dusts are likely to occur in normal operation, such as in oil and gas, chemical manufacturing, and other industries with highly explosive environments.

Aegex10 intrinsically safe tablets synchronize with an organization’s Internet of Things to allow users to transmit real-time data from within the most hazardous zones of their operations. Such cloud-based connectivity improves safety, efficiency and compliance and lowers risk, resulting in decreased downtime and optimized operations.
