When Aegex began the process of designing a large-scale IoT platform, its engineers decided that talking to consultants and looking at white boards would never address all the challenges involved in building a pervasive platform across a hazardous environment. Building and testing a platform in a vast “Meta-Scale” hazardous location should drive the design, not the dreams of engineers in a distant office complex.
Located in Perry, Georgia, USA, approximately 90 miles south of Atlanta, the Guardian Centers occupies 830 acres and includes a 350-acre realistic urban operating environment. The facility includes over 100 buildings where a vast array of scenarios can be created with fuel storage tanks, a four-lane DOT-grade highway, underground highway tunnel, and an actual replica of a Washington, DC, metro station. Having the ability to analyze movements of chemical compounds at different elevations, through micro-climates, and across differing conditions, makes this Aegex IoT Platform demo the most realistic of its kind ever built.
Therefore, Aegex has proudly partnered with the Guardian Centers, which owns and operates the most advanced facility in the world for large-scale disaster study, analysis and training exercises to enhance the operational readiness of response organizations. Employing some of the nation’s foremost experts in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Enhanced Conventional Weapons training (CBRNE), the Guardian Centers’ expertise in “creating a hazard” has enabled Aegex and its partners to build the largest and most comprehensive IoT platform for sensing a potentially deadly problem before it becomes a catastrophe.
